Invitation Fürstin Gloria von Thurn und Taxis to European AIDS Congress 2009

• 30.10.2008 Fürstin Gloria is now planning to accept the invitation to the European AIDS Congress 2009 in Cologne
  “Save the Date”
  After a first written refusal (October 15th 2008) due to her busy schedule an the amount of similar invitations, the Fürstin’s office now informed Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rockstroh by telephone that Fürstin Gloria is excited about the possibility of joining the 12th European AIDS Conference 2009 in Cologne. She is delighted to be invited, thanks him personally for his invitation, and will try to save the date of the Congress. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rockstroh can anticipate a definite answer by summer next year. Until then the invitation will be on resubmission.

  “Lost chance”
  As a reaction to the statements Fürstin Gloria gave in September 2008 during the ARD-Program “Menschen bei Maischberger”:, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rockstroh has decided to invite her personally to the next European AIDS Congress (EACS) 2009 in Cologne. Fürstin Gloria claimed at the show that “Condoms against AIDS do not work” and “AIDS is a disease which you get when blood and bodily fluids come together and a condom does not help you anyway”
  
  Fürstin Gloria will not accept this invitation to receive further education. In writing the office of Fürstin Gloria expressed her regret not able to accept the invitation due to the amount of similar events she is asked to take part”.

• 19.09.2008 The President of the German AIDS-Association invites Fürstin Gloria to the European AIDS Congress 2009 in Cologne
  “Invitation to receive further education”
  As a reaction to the statements Fürstin Gloria gave in September 2008 during the ARD-Program “Menschen bei Maischberger”:, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rockstroh has decided to invite her personally to the next European AIDS Congress (EACS) 2009 in Cologne.   “As the President of the German AIDS-Association (DAIG) and the Co-Chairman of the 12th European AIDS Conference. (EACS, www.eacs-conference2009.com) I feel personally responsible to do something against such an obvious striking lack of knowledge concerning potential ways of transmission of HIV and effective HIV prevention” says Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rockstroh.
  
  “I would like to personally invite Fürstin Gloria to the EACS 2009 to inform her about the actual state of science concerning the topics “Ways of transmission of HIV/HIV therapies/HIV prevention” and especially about the role and the effectiveness of condoms in international HIV prevention strategies. It would also give her the opportunity to have discussions with over 4.000 HIV/AIDS scientists and experts. “It is unacceptable” says the President of the German AIDS-Association “that Fürstin Gloria spreads such scientifically proven inveracities in public TV.”
  
  In his invitation Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rockstroh informed Fürstin Gloria that he is more than happy to pay for her congress fee, hotel and travel costs.
